LiveFaceSwap Camera makes the processed video from LiveFaceSwap Desktop available to another app as a selectable camera input. It carries video only, so choose your microphone or other audio source separately in OBS, Zoom, Discord, or the receiving app. The reliable way to set it up is to verify each stage in order: physical camera, Desktop AI output, virtual camera, then target app.
Understand the video path
The central live face swap virtual camera workflow is:
Physical Camera → LiveFaceSwap Desktop → LiveFaceSwap Camera → OBS / Zoom / Discord
Each part has one job:
- Physical Camera supplies the original live video.
- LiveFaceSwap Desktop reads that input and produces the real-time AI output.
- LiveFaceSwap Camera exposes the processed video as a camera source.
- OBS, Zoom, Discord, or another compatible app receives that source after you select it in the app's camera settings.
LiveFaceSwap Camera is not a second application that you open. You control the session in LiveFaceSwap Desktop, then select LiveFaceSwap Camera in the app that should receive the result.
Verify LiveFaceSwap Desktop first
Before changing settings in another app, confirm that the source and AI output already work in Desktop:
- Select your physical webcam under Input camera.
- Choose a reference portrait and start the face swap.
- Check that the physical camera preview is live.
- Check that AI output is also updating and shows the processed result.
This first check separates an input or AI-session problem from a virtual-camera problem. If Desktop does not have a working AI output, changing the camera in OBS or a call app will not fix the earlier stage.

Select LiveFaceSwap Camera in the receiving app
Open the camera settings in the app that should receive the processed video. Change its camera source from the physical webcam to:

The exact menu differs by app, but the choice is the same:
- In OBS, add or edit a video capture source and select
LiveFaceSwap Cameraas its device. - In Zoom, choose
LiveFaceSwap Camerafrom the meeting app's camera list. - In Discord, choose
LiveFaceSwap Camerain its video settings.
After selecting it, move in front of the physical camera and compare the receiving app's preview with AI output in Desktop. The virtual-camera connection is working when both views continue to show the same processed motion.
Do not select the physical webcam in the receiving app when you want the face-swapped result. That bypasses LiveFaceSwap Desktop and sends the original camera feed instead.

Select microphone audio separately
LiveFaceSwap Camera provides video only. It does not include microphone audio.
Set the two inputs independently in the receiving app:
- Camera or video source:
LiveFaceSwap Camera - Microphone or audio source: your physical microphone, headset, USB microphone, or audio interface
No sound from LiveFaceSwap Camera is therefore expected. If the app has video but no voice, leave the camera selection as it is and check the app's microphone setting.
Video and audio also travel through different paths. If their timing looks noticeably different, test the actual receiving app and adjust synchronization there when that app provides a suitable control. Choose a direct connection or route through OBS
Use LiveFaceSwap Camera directly when the target app only needs the processed camera feed:
Physical Camera → LiveFaceSwap Desktop → LiveFaceSwap Camera → Zoom / Discord
Put OBS in the middle when you need an OBS scene, multiple visual sources, overlays, or OBS-level audio timing:
Physical Camera → LiveFaceSwap Desktop → LiveFaceSwap Camera → OBS
If another app must receive the completed OBS scene, OBS can then provide its own virtual-camera output. LiveFaceSwap Camera and OBS Virtual Camera are different devices: the first carries the processed LiveFaceSwap video into OBS, while the second carries the completed OBS scene onward.
Verify the complete connection
Before using the setup in a live call or stream, check all four layers:
- Input: Desktop shows the correct physical camera.
- Processing: Desktop's AI output is live and visibly processed.
- Video output: The receiving app has
LiveFaceSwap Cameraselected and its preview follows the Desktop AI output. - Audio: The receiving app has the intended microphone selected; use its microphone test or level meter when available.
This layered check identifies the failing stage without changing several unrelated settings at once.
Troubleshoot common virtual-camera problems
LiveFaceSwap Camera is missing from the device list
Fully close and reopen the receiving app so it refreshes its camera list. Confirm that LiveFaceSwap Desktop is installed and that the target app supports selecting a camera input. Also check the system's camera-access permissions for desktop apps.
The device is listed, but the preview is black or frozen
Return to Desktop and check Input camera first, then AI output. If both are updating, reselect LiveFaceSwap Camera in the receiving app and close other camera apps temporarily to rule out a device conflict.
The receiving app shows the original face
The app is probably reading the physical webcam. Change its camera source to LiveFaceSwap Camera, then compare its preview with Desktop's AI output.
Video works, but there is no sound
Keep LiveFaceSwap Camera selected for video and choose the microphone separately in the receiving app's audio settings.
Audio and video do not line up
Test the complete path you will actually use. Avoid guessing a universal offset because timing depends on the current video and audio paths. If you need centralized timing control, route the feed through OBS and follow the dedicated OBS guide.
